You've all heard the saying, "The first wealth is health." Why is it then, that year after year we are constantly making the same New Year's resolution, to lose weight and get healthy? Being healthy should be at the top of our priority list. Without our health, we have nothing. Some people think that making time in their day for a workout is selfish. It is actually quite the opposite. If we start by taking care of ourselves, everyone else will also reap the benefits.

If you are having trouble getting started with an exercise program, a personal trainer may be for you. We all need a little help with exercise sometimes, whether we're just staring out or we've been at it for a long time. Still, there are people who shy away from personal training.

Here are some reasons why a trainer could be helpful for you:

1. You don't know how to get started.

A trainer can help you maximize your time while keeping you within your own limits so you don't overdo it. A trainer can also help set goals and plan out a specific schedule.

2. You're not seeing results.

A trainer can look at your current program and eating habits and help you see where you could make changes to create more effective workouts.

3. You need motivation and accountability.

Trainers come with built-in motivation. Not only are you investing money into your exercise program, you're investing time as well. A trainer provides accountability.

4. You need a challenge.

If you're like most people, you tend to slack-off on your workouts; especially when things get tough. A trainer can motivate to push past those self-imposed limits -- encouraging you to lift heavier, workout longer and challenge yourself more than you would on your own.

5. You are bored with your workouts.

A trainer can bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to challenge both your body and mind. Even if you do a few sessions or meet every few weeks, you will find it refreshing to experience new workouts and new exercises to change up your current routine.
